Description
After years of experience in the sector, Enivaldo Marinho Pereira bought his first Farm, Fazenda Cruzeiro, in 1998. What began as a small project dedicated to coffee seeds and plants grew rapidly: two years later they were already cultivating their own coffee trees. Thus was born the Pereira Specialty Coffee Group, which today has 280 hectares.
The Pereira family has always worked guided by science, curiosity and continuous improvement. Enivaldo and Denise transmitted this way of understanding coffee to their children, Eduardo and Roberta, who incorporated new post-harvest processing techniques and made the definitive leap towards specialty coffees. Their three farms cover the entire chain: from the production of seeds to the final care of the beans.
This rigorous but close approach has received regional and national recognition. Their “secret” is simple: well nourished plants, careful treatment and extremely meticulous post-harvest work.
Sustainability is also an essential part of their day-to-day business. The family invests in technology to improve the quality of the coffee and, at the same time, protect the environment. Forty percent of their land remains as native forest within the Cerrado biome.
The region where they work, the Triângulo Mineiro, west of Minas Gerais, is one of the great coffee growing enclaves of Brazil. Its altitude, between 1000 and 1200 meters, favors the cultivation of high quality Arabica. Although the climate is favorable, producers complement this with irrigation systems that protect the plants during dry periods and guarantee stable harvests.
The result is a coffee that expresses the perfect blend of environment, technique and innovation. A sample of why the Triângulo Mineiro has consolidated itself as one of the most outstanding regions for specialty coffees in Brazil.
